• Dental examination. Once the teeth are thoroughly cleaned and flossed by our dental team, our dentists can then start the oral evaluation. This may include dental x-rays to look at the health of the teeth and bones beyond where the eye can see. Drs. Jonathan and Gretchen Kelley are often looking for signs of tooth decay, periodontal disease, or oral cancer during this time.
• Dental sealants. Dental sealants are used to offer an extra layer of protection against tooth decay. They are usually applied to the teeth near the back of the mouth, known as the molars, which have rough surfaces of the crown that can accumulate food particles and bacteria. Sealants are a plastic-like material that smooths these areas to make them less likely to become problematic in the future.
• Education. Preventative dental care also includes education on how to care for the teeth and gums between recall visits at Kelley Family Dental Center.
