Using dentures and partials to replace missing teeth

If you have failing or broken teeth that cannot be repaired with restorative dentistry, you may need to have the teeth removed and replaced. Drs. Jonathan and Gretchen Kelley, our dentists at Kelley Family Dental Center, understand the importance of tooth replacement and provide various options for replacing missing teeth. This includes full and partial dentures.

What are dentures?

Drs. Kelley describes dentures as prosthetics that are fabricated to replace one or more teeth. These prosthetics vary in style and materials depending on the type of denture chosen. Patients who need full dentures, or dentures that replace all the teeth in the dental arch, will need to consider the advantages of these all-acrylic restorations, including false teeth and gum tissues. These may be held in the smile with natural suction, denture adhesive products, or dental implants. They can restore a patient’s ability to smile with confidence, eat foods properly for digestion, and speak clearly.

Alternatively, patients missing one or more teeth might consider dentures known as “partials.” Partials are made of metal and a quality acrylic framework that snaps into the dental arch, using the existing teeth for support. Partials include false teeth that then slide into places where they are needed to restore the appearance and function of the smile. Patients can remove and replace partial dentures for cleaning and can have them easily adjusted as needed at the dental office.
